Role Summary

  • The Digital and Analytics (DnA) team is currently working on a Digital Engineering initiative to free up engineers from monotonous tasks, generate time for value creation, and ultimately help us realize new business opportunities.
  • We are seeking a current MODEC employee with deep insights into engineering processes and software tools. This individual will collaborate with us on the ideation and development of holistic and optimized software solutions for the entire EPCI process. These may include bespoke software solutions or enhancements and integrations of existing tools.
  • We can accommodate either a part-time or full-time role. A secondment arrangement from an existing corporate or project role can be negotiated for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in all things EPCI for the Digital and Analytics team. Help DnA interface with the appropriate personnel in the organization to address knowledge gaps
  • Have the foresight to identify the most impactful areas for change. For instance, understand how altering a process or implementing a tool at the right stage can maximize overall value.
  • Work closely with Product Owners to conduct competitor analysis, including off-the-shelf software, SaaS, and in-house solutions. Identify product gaps and design new, innovative solutions.
  • Assist in scoping POC (Proof of Concept) and MVP (Minimum Viable Product) for quick implementation, while considering a scalable foundation for future enhancements.
  • Recruit users for the POC or MVP. Facilitate user pilots or testing sessions to gather feedback for ongoing solution development.

Requirement

  • 5 years of experience in engineering, operations, or construction roles, with a strong understanding of end-to-end EPCI processes. Includes at least 2 years of recent experience at MODEC.
  • Familiarity with the tools used at MODEC and a good understanding of their advantages and shortcomings. Strong knowledge of tools and approaches used in similar industries is a big plus.
  • Consultative mindset with the ability to balance your own ideas with team preferences.
  • Innovative thinker, excited about exploring new solutions and challenging the status quo. Driven by tackling complex and challenging problems.
  • Enthusiastic about new technology and best practices from similar industries, with the ability to creatively apply them to our engineering processes.

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience in software tool development, scripting (e.g. SQL, VBA, Shell) or API usage.
